A Comprehensive Guide to Bicycle Racing in Belgium

Interclubs ...

Interclubs are the highest level of amateur racing in Belgium and sanctioned as ranked UCI races. These races will still include Division 3 or Continental Teams as they are still considered amateur in Belgium (unless a racer is paid a certain wage, which he is then considered a pro and can’t ride these races). Anywhere from 155 to 190km’s these are usually long road races with fields of up to 200 racers. The speeds will be quite fast to start, but usually settle down once a breakaway is established. Winning an Interclub, or a consistent top placing in these races is a good way to ensure yourself a place in a pro team for the following year.
