About

Hi I’m Gregg and that’s my wife Holly.
I’m an ex-pro cyclist from Texas; and having spent five road racing seasons living and breathing the cobbled roads of Belgium and Europe, it’s safe to say that I have an unparalleled knowledge of the Belgian roads and way of life. Holly is a licensed massage therapist, and experienced cycling soigneur; we met here in Belgium in 2005. In 2007 we returned to Flanders and have lived here full time since… nearly five years! You might say that we’re huge cycling freaks, as it’s certainly not the ‘epic’ Belgian weather keeping us here!

In early 2008 we started up Chainring Tours, which was meant to be a small cycling tour company centered around the Flemish bike racing culture. However by the end of that year it grew to include The ChainStay; a guesthouse dedicated to housing developing cyclists in Belgium. Three years later we have housed over 150 different riders (from as few as 10 different countries), including road racers, cyclocross racers, recreational riders, tourists, journalists, and other bike industry professionals.

One of the major factors that we attributed to our success (and at times craziness) is The ChainStay’s great location. The guesthouse is located within the heart of the Flemish Ardennes, only 2 km’s away from the town centre of Oudenaarde (the finishing city for the 2012 edition of the Tour of Flanders). With literally dozens of famous climbs within 20 km’s of our doors, there truly is some great riding to be had here!

Belgium is on the essential list of to do’s for any cycling enthusiast, whether you are looking to stay 6 months or 6 days we have numerous options available to you. Coming to race the muddy ‘cross races or famous kermess racing? Check out our availability. Perhaps the mention of the Tour of Flanders, and Paris-Roubaix get your heart pumping? Then check out what’s on offer over on our tour page. Can’t make it over in April but you still want to live the Spring Classics? Why don’t you contact us about creating a personalized tour for you and your friends?
